Peter & Su's Canadian Reception

Peter and Su (Pui to her family and close friends) were married in Thailand October 23, 1999. On June 10, 2000 a reception was held at Peter's Mother's house in Toronto to welcome Su into the family.

It was a hot sunny day - 32C and we spent the afternoon in the back yard.

Peter's sister Mary and other family members organized the event. Mary gave a touching toast to the bride and groom.

Mary read a passage from Love and Living by Thomas Merton

Love is our true destiny.
We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone - we find it with another.
We do not discover the secret of our lives merely by study and calculation in our own isolated meditations.
The meaning of our life is a secret that has to be revealed to us in love, by the one we love.
And if this love is unreal, the secret will not be found, the meaning will never reveal itself, the message will never be decoded.
We will never be fully real until we let ourselves fall in love.

Peter and Su cut and served the wedding cake which was decorated with Thai and Canadian symbols.

A lovely afternoon that brought many family members together, some for the first time. Thanks Mary for having this idea and to everyone who helped organize it.
